WEATHERING SUPPLIES
CORVID-19 NOTICE
Our stains are alcohol based same as those now precious disinfectants.
We had ten gallons of 99% pure isopropyl in January however in the normal course of business we dyed them colors, and thus continue to market them.
The clear stuff is gone. Of course we do not recommend sanitizing anything with the stains. But rest assured your model is safe.
Please stay safe and somewhat sane, building models.

NEW COLOR STAINS
Our SilverWood stain has been weathering wood
structure kits for decades. After exhaustive tests we have formulated several
additional stains, some for enhanced weathering, and others for primary coloring.
These, like the SilverWood, can be used not only on wood, but paper, plastic and
plaster. They can also be mixed together for your own custom stains. They can be
diluted with rubbing alcohol. We use 99% pure isopropyl alcohol to avoid the water
content of lesser grades that can warp your models. Note the stains remain soluble,
an advantage as you can continue to work them, adding more coats if you'd like it
darker, streaking with another color to add interesting highlights. There are all
sorts of things you can learn from a little experimentation. Here are a few notes
on the formulations:
#106, #123-8 - SILVERWOOD - our original formula, light gray for general weathering.
#125, #124-8 - BLACKWOOD - same as #106 but 5x stronger, for heavy weathering, staining ties, etc.
#127, #126-8 - DEADWOOD - a nasty color found in dark alleys, abandoned mines and the like, use for weathering. Just don't step it it!
#129, #128-8 - REDWOOD - a primary color stain for old barns and other structures.
#131, #130-8 - BROWNWOOD - a primary color, heavy weathering, similar to #127 but much stronger.
#133, #132-8 - YELLOWWOOD - a primary color, as well as enhancing natural wood to brown.
#135, #134-8 - BLUEWOOD - a primary color stain for fancy in-town structures.
AVAILABLE IN 4 or 8 fl. oz. BOTTLES

LASERWOOD GENERIC PLANKING
By the way, the above photos show our wood
stains applied to our HO scale LaserWood 8 inch planking. These are a nice rich
light brown to start. The stains are transparent so the wood and/or paint will
show through and affect your results.
ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL - 99%
Besides a good cleaning agent we use isopropyl alcohol
to thin our wood stains and acrylics. We use the 99% pure as 70% contains 30% WATER which we want
to avoid applying to our nice wood structure parts. Since 99% isopropyl alcohol
can be difficult to find we now offer it.

WEATHERING CHALKS
We offer two sets of 8 pastel chalks each for
weathering as described in many of our instructions.
Colors include Light Gray, Medium Gray, Dark Gray, Sooty Black, Dirty Brown,
Light Rust, Dark Rust, and Dusty Oxide Red in our basic set.
Our "scenic" set includes a dark and light blue, woody sepia, three yellows,
and two shades of green to enhanse your special projects be they scenery, structures
or rolling stock.
A small stubble brush is included in each set.
The nice thing about this system is storage is not as messy as with powders which
can easily get all over the place. Just scratch off whatever you need, and the rest
stays conveniently together in stick form, for later use.
Our pastels are formulated with a sticking agent so no fixative is need unless
the model is going to be repeatedly handled.
